Compagnia Baccalà was born from the union of Simone Fassari (him) and Camilla Pessi (her). They ran away from the circus they were in, created Pss Pss, and the rest is history.
Camilla and Simone met at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri in Switzerland. After graduation they took separate paths both performing in many different circuses and cabarets in far away countries, without seeing each other for years. Then one day in 2004 Simone, on tour with a circus, contacted his old class-mate Camilla to stand-in for his usual acrobatic partner who had done a moonlight flit. Together they deepened the characteristics and techniques of their clown characters, creating the repertoire with which they struck out and continue to travel the world, this time together.
Inspired by the era of silent films two modern-day clowns take to the empty stage. Brilliant, tender and ingenious, Compagnia Baccalà’s hilarious and timeless performance of enthralling physicality and exquisite expression has been fêted the world over. Inventive and exciting, their poetic and breathtaking fumble through mishaps, acrobatics, and life will have you laughing long after you leave the theatre.
